Akiko Ogusu learned American literature and culture at Chuo university in the late '90s and became very interested in the beat generation. From there
she learned about the hippie movement and studied the psychedelic history of San Francisco. She was atracted to the Fillmore style of poster art and the Woodstock Festival. She did promotions for a concert-related production company from 1998-2004. Wanting to be more involved in the artwork, she changed her job to a design company. There she learned Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, and graphic desigh. She eventually became unsatisfied with doing design only and attended an illustration school. Since graduating in 2006, she has shown her work in galleries in Japan and won many prizes. Her dream is to have a show here, in NY and world wide country. Her personal theme is "The Sun Always Smiling and People Always Happy". These paintings are strongly influenced by the psychedelic posters of Wes Wilson (who is her favorit artist)with a pop of primary color.
