Kayako Takatsuna

Profile
Work

Kayako Takatsuna was born in Kawagoe, Saitama and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. She started Calligraphy at the age of five. Her mentor, Koen Suzuki had taught her a traditional method of Calligraphy, SHODO, for over twenty years. Since she was an elementary school student, Kayako has received many calligraphy awards in Japan and China. After Ms. Koen passed away, she discovered her original style of Japanese calligraphy through her life. In 2004, Kayako moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career as an artist and a performer. Ever since then, she has worked for art shows, hotel lobby, restaurants, film titles, and theatrical sets. Through her life experience, Kayako's skill has blossomed into a style uniquely her own, harmoniously melding the traditional with the contemporary. In 2007, She had her 1st(Los Angeles) calligraphy exhibition. In 2009 and 2010, She had five solo exhibitions and many events in Los Angeles. In 2011, Kayako has her 1st solo exhibition in NY.
